LONDON SURF / FILM FESTIVAL 2013 & APPROACHING LINES
Droog79 was chosen as one of the UK´s "Top 10 surf creatives" to re-imagine and redesign a poster for an iconic surf film to be shown in the London Surf / Film Festival gallery curated by Approaching Lines. The work was exhibited at the Riverside Studios Gallery in Hammersmith from 21 October - 3 November 2013. Following the show, the original poster was auctioned off to benefit Water Aid. SURF CINEMA RE-VISION (Press Release)
London Surf / Film Festival x Oakley present ‘Surf Cinema Re-Vision’ a specially commissioned gallery show celebrating the connection between art and celluloid, in support of Water Aid. Curated in association with creative collective Approaching Lines, this exhibition challenges perceptions of what surf art is all about.
Approaching Lines tasked nine of the UK’s leading surf creatives with a brief to reinterpret and redesign the art work for an iconic surf film that resonated with them, creating a unique piece that captures the essence of the movie and stirs the imagination. The resulting show, ‘Surf Cinema Re-Vision’ is an exciting and eclectic showcase of movie posters re-imagined.
The posters are on display at the Riverside Studios Gallery in Hammersmith from 21 October - 3 November 2013, coinciding with the four nights of the London Surf / Film Festival and feature work from a hugely talented pool of UK artists including:
